Mexico- Domestic Violence/ Abuse


  •  90% of Mexican women who have suffered domestic violence/sexual abuse don't report it to authorities.
  • 10% of women report their abuse; but mainly treated with suspicion, apathy, and disrespect. 
  • 7 out of 10 women over 15 yrs old have been targets of violent attacks and 1 out of 3 of them have been mistreated by their husband or boyfriend.
  • 2,500 girls and women die per year at the hands of their spouse or other family members.
  • Every 15 minutes a Mexican women is physically abuse, with an average of 5 deaths per day.
  • Mexico has one the highest rate of females in the world.
  • Their are only 60 domestic violence shelters in all of Mexico.
  • The #1 cause of injury of women in Mexico is domestic violence.
  • 6 out of 10 women have been victims of domestic violence, sexual abuse and more.
  • 2/3 of women killed every die at the hands of their husband, father, brother boyfriend, etc.
